Humanist Romantic Wedding
The humanist romantic ceremony is a union ceremony that holds moral, personal, or spiritual significance for the couple. It does not have legal or juridical implications, and thus does not carry legal effects or obligations, unlike a civil or religious marriage registered with a governmental entity.
Regardless of where and how you choose to marry, you can make your ceremony unique and tailor on your desires.
If you wish to include gestures and rituals from specific cultures and traditions (such as Handfasting, exchanging rings and vows, sand ceremony, candle ceremony, etc.), we can adapt these rituals to focus on you, your your personality e sulla your story.
I provide materials and ceremony schemes to help you select and decide, and to discuss ideas for this very special day.
Why Choose a Humanist Wedding?
Expression of Love and Mutual Commitment
A humanist wedding is an opportunity for a couple to express their love and commitment in a meaningful way, regardless of legal legitimacy.
Completing a Civil Union
Through my experience with couples, I always recommend having the legal ceremony a few days before the symbolic celebration to allow for more freedom with timing and locations. These ceremonies offer a depth and connection that go beyond bureaucratic boundaries, transforming a legal moment into an unforgettable and cherished memory.
Ceremony Designed for You
Symbolic weddings offer greater flexibility in customizing the ceremony exactly as they wish, incorporating rituals, symbols, and traditions that hold special meaning for them. Music and songs can also play a significant role, designed to create an unforgettable ceremony.
Even the music and the songs can also play a significant role, designed to create an unforgettable ceremony.
Flexible Location and Date
Since legal registration is not required, couples can choose the location and date of their symbolic wedding freely, without municipal constraints. This allow to organize ceremonies in a unique and meaningful places with flexible dates in case of bad weather.
Inclusivity of Rituals
Couples can include religious, cultural, or spiritual elements elements in the ceremony without adhering to the rules or traditions of a specific faith. You might choose to incorporate elements such as prayers, hymns, and rituals from different faiths, or organize a humanist celebration focused on your experiences and literary or poetic texts.
I am available to celebrate weddings for all couples, regardless of sexual orientation or other personal characteristics.
Renewal of Vows
A symbolic wedding can also be an opportunity for couples who are already legally married to renew their vows and reaffirm their commitment to each other.
Civil Wedding with Rituals
If you wish to include rituals and personalizations in your civil wedding, the couple must follow the procedures and requirements set by the municipality where the marriage will be registered.
If the civil authorities approve the request to have a wedding officiated by a celebrant, the municipality must issue a delegation in the name of the officiant. If I am chosen for this role, I will handle the official procedure with professionalism and care, reading the articles specified by law in their entirety.
With the couple's request and municipal authorizationit will be possible to personalize the ceremony with readings, songs, and rituals specific for the wedding.
Celtic Wedding
A Celtic Wedding is a ceremony that follows the traditions and rituals inspired by Celtic Traditions, with roots in Ireland and Scotland and other parts of Western Europe. This ceremony often incorporates symbolism and practices related to nature, the cycles of life, and Celtic spiritual beliefs.
I deeply enjoy celebrating this union ritual as I practice and teach inspired by this very culture.
What defines this rite is the spiritual union of two souls, who choose to celebrate their journey together, supported by the forces of Mother Earth.
The deep respect of Nature, its cycles and its expressions through water, sunlight, wind, rocks, and all living beings is an integral part of the couple’s future union.
The Celtic Wedding is uniquely woven with atmospheres and gestures rooted in pre-Christian history and traditions.
The Celts, deeply connected with Nature, celebrated in places such as forests, clearings, springs, and great trees, which also became witnesses to to the sacred union.
Traditionally, a Celtic union lasted for a year and a day, during which time the couple, living together, could decide to renew or dissolve their union.
In Celtic culture, the renewal of cycles is fundamental, as Nature teaches us that everything moves in circles and spirals: the lunar cycle, the seasons, day and night.
Immerse in the Landscape
The Celts had a profound connection with nature, and the Celtic wedding reflects this relationship.
Ceremonies can take place in natural settings like forests, hills, or riverbanks to honor the beauty and wisdom of nature.
The chosen locations often have special significance for the couple and may include sacred trees, springs, or other natural elements.
Circle as a Sacred Space
The Celts attributed special meaning to circles, representing eternity and the interconnectedness of all things. The ceremonial space is created in a circular formation, with participants arranged in a circle around the couple.
The Power of the Elements
A Celtic wedding involves the symbolic use of natural elements. Earth, water, fire, and air are represented and honored during the ceremony.
Blessing of the Rings
Rings, considered symbols of eternity, can be blessed and exchanged as a sign of the couple’s commitment.
Oathing Stone
Partners may vow their promises on a special stone, which can become a tangible symbol of their commitment.Handfasting
One of the most well-known rituals in Celtic weddings, Handfasting involves using a cloth or ribbons to symbolize the union of the partners. Their hands are bound together to represent unity and mutual support.
Celtic Blessings and Jumping the Broom
Celtic blessings, often including words of wisdom and good wishes, are a core part of the ceremony. Couples are often invited to jump over a broom at the end of the ceremonial circle, an ancient symbol of opening new paths.
Elopement - An Intimate and Personal Wedding
An “elopement” is a form of marriage or official engagement where a couple chooses to marry in secret o in intimate manner semplicemente per se stessa, senza una grande cerimonia o festa.
Typically, couples opt for this approach when they want to avoid the complexities of planning a traditional wedding or wish to keep their union very privateThe presence of other people is not necessary; it can just be the celebrant and, if desired, a photographer.
Some couples invite only a very small circle of attendees (usually fewer than 10). Elopement offers flexibility and freedom for couples to choose how they want to celebrate their love and union, without having to adhere to the traditions or expectations associated with more formal weddings.
Intimacy and Privacy
Some couples wish for their wedding to be a very intimate moment, with a very limited number of people or even no guests , apart from the celebrant and the photographer.
Avoiding Stress and Organization
Planning a traditional wedding can be very demanding and stressful.
Elopement offers a simpler and stress-free solution that can also be adapted to tight schedules or changing weather conditions if the wedding is organized outdoors.
Limited Budget
Some couples choose elopement to avoid the costs associated with a larger and more formal wedding.
Desire for Adventure
Some couples opt to marry in a special or exotic location, perhaps at a destination that holds special meaning for them.
Second Marriage
Couples celebrating a second marriage might choose elopement as a more intimate and informal way to unite, even while waiting for divorce proceedings to be finalized.
Overall, elopement is chosen for its private nature, but some couples still choose to share the experience with a small group of very close family or friends typically fewer than 10..
In some cases, couples who choose this option may later organize a party or celebration to share the news with a larger group of people.

The Ceremony I've Always Dreamed Of
Not always personal, familial, or cultural conditions allow for the organization of the ceremony of your dreams. The location, the ritual, the decorations, and the desire to experience a moment of romantic reaffirmation of vows and love are among the reasons many couples organize a symbolic ceremony or one inspired by Celtic tradition.
Sharing the Experience with Children
If a couple has children, renewing vows can be a touching way to involve them in the celebration of love and family bond. If the family includes a newborn, it is possible to combine the couple's celebration with the Naming Ceremony
Celtic-Style Reaffirmation Ritual
For those who have chosen to marry through the Celtic Wedding Rite, there is a tradition that states its duration is one year and a day, after which the couple must meet with the celebrant to reaffirm their union.
This happens only for the first year; thereafter, reaffirmation is optional. Many couples renew annually (or after 3, 10 years...).
For this reaffirmation ritual:
- The presence of guests is not necessary for the celebration.
- The celebrant can propose reaffirmation days along with other couples who were united around the same period as yours.
Separation Ritual - Handparting
The separation ritual, also known as handparting, is an ancient rite that symbolizes the end of a bond or romantic relationship. This ritual has been practiced in various cultures and traditions throughout history and aims to honor the time spent together, accept the end of the relationship, and allow the partners to move forward separately.
It is a rite that is rarely spoken of but is fortunately becoming very popular as it requires the partners to muster the courage to responsibly face the conclusion of a shared journey, setting aside judgments, blame, and resentments, leaving aside judgments, blame, and resentments.
Preparation and Intention
Before crafting the outline of the rite, I invite the partners to take time to reflect about the reasons they are proceeding with the separation and what their future intentions are. It is important to approach the ritual with respect, compassion, and honesty. In this delicate moment, the celebrant can offer her consultation and support.
Location and Time
The separation ritual can be conducted in a place that holds special significance for both partners or the same place that witnessed their previous union. The chosen time can also be significant, such as the anniversary of their relationship or another symbolic day. According to Celtic spirituality, the most appropriate period is around or after the celebration of Samhain (after October 31).
Ceremony and Symbolisms
During the rite, rituals and symbols are chosen that represent the end of their relationship. If the couple chose a Celtic ritual, the ceremony is revisited to declare their intention to part ways to both the elements and the spirits. If the couple chose theHandfasting the ribbon or cords that bound them are cut and burned along with past memories.
Words and Declarations
During the rite, the partners can share their words and declarations about the separation. They can express gratitude for the time spent together, acknowledge the lessons and experiences hey have shared, and declare their commitment to move forward separately with respect and compassion. I usually provide an e-book with some guiding question to reflect on these aspects.
Reflection and Farewell
After conducting the rite, the partners can take time to reflect on the emotions that emerged during the ritual. The goal of the rite is to help the couple understand that relationships in life can change formhoping that a great love can transform into a beautiful friendship. They can also conclude the rite with a farewell that may include a hug or goodbye or farewell.
Detaching from a Toxic or Burdensome Bond
Detaching from a harmful relationship can be difficult and may take timeIt is important to seek support from friends, family, or qualified professionals such as therapists or counselors if necessary.
The well-being and happiness of a person are fundamental prioritiesAn emotional separation rite can bring greater serenity if one of the partners still feels emotionally involved in the relationshipThe separation rite can be performed with the presence of both or with one of the two with written authorization from the other spouse.
An Act of Courage
This rite, especially when done by both spouses, is a powerful way to consciously and respectfully face and honor the end of a relationship.
However, if the separation is accompanied by strong emotions or legal complexities, it is also important to seek the support of professionals such as counselors or lawyers.
